Grateful Geek: 32

Last week, I celebrated my 32nd (!) birthday in Vegas with my hubby, and it was such a lovely way to not only spend my “name day,” but also to just get away and relax.

Delicious Belgian waffle breakfasts topped with fresh strawberries, butter and warm maple syrup and the best Earl Grey tea with Bonne Maman honey. Fancy window-shopping at the Bellagio (our home away from home) and Caesar’s Palace. Easy, casual lunches (usually with curly fries). Winning some — and losing some — at Blackjack. Cirque du Soleil. Room service. A huge, comfy fluffy bed. Old episodes of CSI and Modern Family. Gorgeous vista of the mountains in the distance. Playing games on the iPad. Long walks.

These are just some of the reasons why “32” started off on a high note!

This week, I’m also lovin’:

Renewed purpose + seeing opportunity, not bad luck + Coursera + desktop inspiration + quick laughs with Nicole Richie’s AOL Originals web series + bravery in the dentist’s chair + the easiest, breeziest way to style my short angled “lob” + a month in Tokyo and KSNY agendas + reliable friends + a new short story by the incomparable David Mitchell…via Twitter + The Queen of the Tearling + fresh baguettes with honey + “10 Feeliest Pixar Moments” + long, comforting chats with my mom + my hubby’s return!
