Feeling: Super energized and pumped for the week!
I attribute this positive outlook to having had an awesome weekend. What did we do? In sum: Saw Blended (silly yet funny), finally tried out Drunken Munkey (an Indian lounge with authentic, tasty biryani), day-tripped to Bear Mountain and the Woodbury Commons Premium Outlets with my mom and my hubby, indulged in some amazing veggie pizza, took a leisurely city walk in the sunshine, taught and learned new card games, and capped it all off with Game of Thrones on Sunday night.
Not a bad way to spend the first weekend of summer!
Letting Go Of: Blog shame. I haven’t had a lot of time in recent weeks to post regularly here, outside of my “Grateful Geek” series. I was rather down on myself about it last week, but then I realized that I need to let that feeling go. To live up to my promise of keeping things positive here, I need to be okay with the fact that there will be times when I can’t do everything I want here. That doesn’t mean I need to shut things down; it means that when I do blog, I’ll (hopefully) be more enthusiastic and have great things to share!
Working On: Building up a list of new business prospects, (further) refining my business model, learning as much as possible, putting myself out there!
Reading: Have you heard of Ransom Riggs? If you haven’t, I highly recommend you haul ass to a bookstore or library, and check out his first YA novel called Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children. It is a strange, imaginative, super well-written story that incorporates vintage photographs with great story. I already started the second book in the series — Hollow City — and it’s definitely living up to its predecessor’s promise.
Thinking About: With summer here and reminders from Camp NaNoWriMo that the July challenge is around the corner, I feel the urge to sign up for a creative writing class. I miss writing stories like I used to, and though time feels a little stretched and limited these days, I think it’s worthwhile to make real time for my lifelong passion.
Learning About: When I took Marie Forleo’s B-School program earlier this year, I learned what “multi-passionate” means, and it didn’t really click for me until last week. It’s funny how things have changed: when I was younger, I think multi-passionate would have translated into “unfocused.” Now? Now, I think we’re all waking up to the fact that we each may have more than one passion in life, and it’s absolutely possibly to make room in your life for them with some planning, discipline and vision.
Dreaming Of: The azure waters of Maui… I can’t believe already a month has passed since me and my hubby were there!
Anticipating: The start of the World Cup on June 12th. Soccer (aka football) is the one sport I love to watch, and there’s nothing more fun or exciting than watching and cheering on with the rest of the world!
