It’s been weeks since I did a post other than a “Grateful Geek.” Since I have a few moments now, it may be a good time to reflect on the here and now.
Working On: Business building and dreaming. Marie Forleo’s B-School program. It feels like if I’m not sleeping, all my thoughts and energy — directly and indirectly — are focused on my work. On how to make it bigger, better and badder than ever. On how to remain true to my vision and myself. On how to add value and make a difference. God knows how many people and articles have cited that the first two years of your business are the hardest. It’s no joke, but it gives me more joy than any of my past work experiences.
Realizing: That there are many missed phone calls and emails during this process. I may have become quite boring to the people around me!
(Forever) Grateful For: My hubby. My family. My best friends.
Thinking About: Writing more. Just allowing my imagination to run wild ‘n’ free on the page, like I used to when I was younger.
Not Proud Of: Falling off the regular fitness routine wagon. Badly. Over a month ago. No bueno.
But Feeling Good About: Listening to myself. Giving it my all. Loving with all my heart.
Smiling Because: Spring has not quite sprung yet, but I love the tease as it’s tiptoeing across the city. The sun is white and bright, and the skies are showing bluer every day. There is more than a slight nip in the air, but soon enough, that will fade away. I’m ready to pack away heavy coats, scarves and boots, and bring on the light jackets, pretty blouses and slip-on shoes.
Bookmarking: There are several books I want to read — I just have to find the time to do so! Arianna Huffington’s Thrive, Adam Braun’s The Promise of a Pencil, Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch, B.J. Novak’s One More Thing, Danielle LaPorte’s The Desire Map and the list goes on!
Coveting: Little luxuries, like a deep, sweet sleep in a heavenly, fluffy bed reminiscent of the one at the J.W. Marriott in Mumbai. Like Chef Morimoto’s exquisite sushi and a glass of fine wine. Like the sound of waves and sand between my toes. Like soft colors and jewel tones. Like a beautifully constructed, neutral handbag. Like a room with a gorgeous view and the space to create. Like amazing perfume, such as Carven, Signorina or Tory Burch. Like a deep tissue massage. Like a much shorter, fresher, new haircut.
Can’t Wait For: There are a few “rewards” I’m seriously geeking out over these days and that are keeping me excited.
First, after much deliberation, I’ll soon be replacing my trusty three-year-old MacBook Pro with a brand-spanking-new MacBook Air. I love this machine with all my heart, but the poor thing is getting old, slow, heavy and glitchy. It just can’t keep up with me anymore. It’s a bittersweet decision, but it’s time to upgrade to something faster and lighter!
Second, in under two weeks, Game of Thrones returns with season four. Daenarys and her dragons, Lannister politics and the spunky Arya Stark. Epic TV. Nuff said.
And lastly (and most importantly), me and my hubby have finally booked a proper holiday! WOOHOO! We’re heading to Maui in May for an amazing, relaxing, luxurious, beautiful getaway together. Eight days of quality time in paradise with my love: I’m counting down the days, minutes and seconds!
